When loyalty to others becomes disloyalty to you #mejane

As a business owner and leader, you need to partner and collaborate with others to achieve your desires and goals.

My hunch is you feel a sense of deep loyalty to many of these people and partnerships.

Have you ever asked yourself when your loyalty to others is actually creating disloyalty to yourself?

Whoa. This is big. Right?

To make this more real, here are a few tangible examples from some of my recent conversations.

  • A coach who constantly quotes thought-leaders she has learned from, when this crutch is hurting her from connecting with others. Her ideal clients long for her to share her OWN viewpoints and stand for what she believes – this is what will make it more magnetic and inspiring and actually connect with others.

  • A yoga teacher who wants to focus on building her own business and spend more time with her family while her kids are young – and is having a hard time saying no to teaching early morning classes at a local studio because she doesn’t want to disappoint the owner, even though these classes leave her exhausted and pay her little.

  • A consultant who keeps hanging onto a contractor who helped her survive through some hard times in her personal life, even though this contractor is now holding her back from truly thriving.

  • A coach who justifies making a difference by giving away his services nearly for free, yet wants to bring in more money and feels guilty for not providing for his family. 

  • A consultant who sees potential in helping another business owner’s cause, yet sees many holes and red flags, and is having a hard time stepping away.

My invitation to you is to have a crucial conversation with yourself: to reflect on all your partnerships and collaborations. 

Get straight and real with yourself and really LOOK at how you are creating disloyalty to you.

Ask yourself what ONE action would help you create more loyalty to yourself, your family, your business and your own desires.
